Weekly fruit salad ~ 20++

image You know me by now, numbers aint my thing, well at least let me proclaim this as fact and deny any addiction to them. Deny deny deny!  Ok so last week was quite the week, some bad things and some good.  For those who do not know yet, I’ll be moving country as of this Friday, my new land is the cold one called England.  Lets hope it all goes to plan, in the mean time I don’t know if I will have as much time as normal to read all the blogs.

With this in mind I have a HUGE HUGE HUGE favour (yip three big ones that equal one big favour, I always go large).  If you are using Google Reader and you come across a really awesome post that you think we should share in the Salad please click share on the bottom.  If you aren’t currently shared with me please send a mail to sanityf@gmail.com and I’ll send you the other email address that I use for google reader.

Now back to the business of the week past…

This week was one of sadness for the children of Africa because Mama Africa passed away. Viva Miriam Makeba! Long Live Mama Africa! She was a symbol to the nation, a symbol to Africa, hope, life and love.

Southern California is Burning… Again, don’t quite know what to say other than may the rains come soon. I really do hope it does.

There were many beautiful tributes to the Veterans this week as American had their annual Veterans day honouring all those who serve and served in years past.  Have a read through these incredible posts and spend a moment of thought for all those fallen, each one of them hero’s the world over.  I know these posts were written with Americans in mind but I’d like to put them forward for all caught up in wars world wide.

Veterans Day 2008

Veteran’s Day 2008

Honoring Our Veterans

A post of thanks..

Unicef also held their annual Children’s Day, one that I feel close to perhaps because the children they target have touched my heart in more ways than I could possibly ever explain.  The children of the world are the ones that suffer most, be they The refugees are us or any other such sadness, Active or Oberverer? and what they do about it.  Thank You to all those that do what they can no matter how big or small. It matters and it counts.

Who will this tight economy will hurt the most most?

This whole thing about giving Growth hormones for a bullied girl blows me away, has society gotten so wrapped up in the ideal of perfection that would succumb to such depths?  Should it not rather be about Gaining true perspective of your body by removing your head..? It is no Memo from Satan, just plain reality.  What are we doing to our fellow humans? I am me, don’t call me gay or straight, fat or thin. Accept me for who I am not what I am according to your ideals. Simple.

Human Disconnect turns to feeding the flames of our souls writing the chapters of life, be they Chapter 5 or even Chapter 4, Seeing Red or the Messages in the sky.  Is it an East Coast Smile, a Last of the Summer Wine or a new harvest? We choose who we feed like the Parable of Two Wolves.

Learning to live in the world takes Inspiration and a Come with Me smile, A Heart That Feels Is A Heart That Heals.  Who really cares? those that count and those that don’t want to be counted in the caring list known on TV, in the papers or anywhere else.  The silent secret helpers that make the world a better place.

A big congratulations to Psych with her Son’s Engagement!

Weekly Fruit Salad ~ [place number here]

Found a new wrinkle today so decided to just plain avoid numbers all together. I mean when I look in the mirror it’s still me, the 18 year old staring back at me… you know?

Phew what a week it has been, admittedly the “One Giant Step” moment, yeah I don’t even need to tell you which one that was!  Obama, Obama, Obama, a Day of Tribulation and also of shame, some weren’t so happy, some cried, some were ecstatic, some made shout outs to An American Hero either way the US elections were felt worldwide.  The New Face of the Presidency, may you always be courageous, stand up right and be strongPandemic Faith, Hope and Love, lets Make this better for all!

The thing that touched me the most about it all? Kids…

Color Them Blonde, do what you have to do but You really can’t blame anyone else for the state of your life nor can you avoid your own life by living vicariously through your child.  Sad as it is we all need to find our own Way Back and build up The Courage to Leap with Puppy Size love.  Block and tackle, gain your individuality back, Accept things as they are and that we all have moments of Stupid, life is like that, there will always be “our” Time.

Stress Management is the really hot topic of the week with “How to Overcome A Panic Attack” and “Tips for dealing with Anxiety, breathing through it…“.  Seems the world over is feeling the effects of the overly slight financial crisis, life and living… its touching us all but at the same time we are all standing up, standing together and smiling through it.  Why is it that we are always worried about “how you look to the world”?

When we can’t smile we find someone who we know will help us to.  I know for me personally watching a Baby Laugh at Wii and the The Worst Best Man – Ever! videos just about had me with 10 broken ribs from laughing so hard.  Then there are the the little things that we hold dear like Snow days and The Fallacy of Greener Grass

The Simplest of terms… life is what you make of it, from Pictorial Highlights Of Fall to the Inspiration found in The Stick and The Cardboard Box that found their way to the Toy Hall of Fame.  Its everywhere if you are willing to look.  Perhaps you are Just Small Town or perhaps its another dreaded bout of Fibromyalgia, either way its up to you.

Space.. the final frontier? Or is it truly our own souls we have yet to conquer? A pondering question for the week for sure or as the new hip way of saying it is “fo sho”.  Flying Together – Our Conversations in October, ask no questions, hear no lies… its really been a blast from the recent past.  The worst question for me this week though was “Blonde blue-eyed baby for sale?“, my first thoughts were “um hello, come again, they did WHAT?” Enough said, I was shocked and it kind of makes me want to revisit School—1957 fo sho! Ok sorry I just had to use my new word, forgive me!

Boundless Love people, if you don’t know it yet, its all the rage!

The holidays are coming so its best to start prepping up and getting all set – can anyone tell me why, oh why, this year has flown as fast as it has? Or perhaps for some, such as me, why it has taken so dang long???

Now I have something really REALLY big BIG to announce… are you sitting? Yip Lindsey has finished her book which is now for sale YIPEEEEE (sorry I have been awaiting its arrival while sitting on my hands seriously!)  Just click on the image and head on through… Congrats Lindsey, the blog world is proud, PROUD beyond words!

Thanks for an incredible week everyone, it has been AWESOME!!!

Weekly Fruit Salad ~ Number 20

imageYeah yeah I know it’s in English but thought it kind of special what with it  being a whole 20 salads consumed and no one has food poisoning yet! Phew! It’s been quite a week so grizzly bear with me here and hopefully it will be as exciting as the Dallas Gay Pride Parade.  Hats off to Nathalie with an H, have you seen this woman’s photos? Ah you have not lived till you have sampled the eye candy she has on her blog!

Definitions Making A Difference is sometimes a bit like trying to define the Cookie Monster Slayer, it changes as does the weather, each person is different, each need evolves… how we can make a difference in reality depends on the web of life we find ourselves in.  Complex simplicity if you will is the nature of the day, Deal or No Deal it’s ultimately how you choose.

Just because sometimes Hardened battle soldiers find it tough to be civilians it doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve Comfort, encouragement and many hugs.  No I am not talking about the Kumbaya warning lamp but rather why it doesn’t go off on “UBUNTU”.  Suppose some might be getting sick of that word but its around for good, it’s centuries old and flows through our veins.  Ubuntu – nobody is ever outside, it’s not a cult or some wayward religion, it just is, a way of life, a way of person.  I am nothing without you.

Good, Bad – Who Knows… either way we all know a Bum In The Alley.  Perhaps its about False economies – working smarter not harder, perhaps its all about Staying Present in the moment or just Sharing what you have with others.  It’s been a rough time for so many, financial crisis, politics coming out of the toilet water and little Wanted and Worth $3.50 adverts.

Don’t Shy away from The good old days because the Chickens always Come Home To Roost in the end.  Go revisit that Souf Efrikan foto elbum or better yet remember Something about the Wedding, any wedding (all my experiences have been um strange… normally me hiding from the bouquet throwing ceremony!)

For us all it must be Love First

Breathe deeply and smile to a New Day

Weekly Fruit Salad ~ Numero ng labinsiyam

Filipino is the language for the week, nineteen is the number for the week… I refuse to actually believe it has been that long so have reverted to living in denial!  First up huge HUGE (bigger text huge) apologies, I have been slacking but I think it was the proteins or perhaps the Ebola virus attacking the fruit… yip def an Ebola or at the very least aerosolitusgravitarse virus (new breed just off the shelf).

This week, I am thrilled to offer an international blogger the opportunity to join our Ubuntu team and share our Ubuntu badge.  Robert from In Search of Meaning is filled with the spirit of Ubuntu not only on his blog, but in his real life.  He’s a mentor, teacher, therapist, and friend.  His often witty comments leave his readers with a smile.

Congratulations Robert.  Thank you for all of your wonderful blog posts about life and thoughts, and about reminding us about the little things people seem to take for granted in this world.

You can see some of Robert’s posts at:

SurfaceEarth wrote their post on what Ubuntu means to them, to have a read head over to  Ubuntu, in a can, if you will and Moments of Ubuntu

Vanessa has done an awesome profile series on a few of the Ubuntu tribe so far – if you want the low down head over to her blog VanessaLeigh

 The Fruits

So how do you know you are a fan of a show? Ok, lets just say Oprah? Let me put it to you this way.  I call a friend say because I broke a toe nail and need to go to hospital and then I get told “I’m Sorry, I Can’t Take Your Call Right Now… Oprah is busy with her random act of kindness and just GAVE everyone EVERYONE in the audience a BRAND NEW CAR”.  Let me just say that I’m so “over” Oprah Winfrey…

I know can you believe it!  One thing is for sure (well I think it is) is that Dude and Holeycheese did not meet on the set.  The true relief comes when you realise that the CNN Pundits Don’t Know Who You Are (fact). Anything But Fiction becomes reality and soon we find ourselves trying to attain the answer to life?

Habits are interesting creatures, I personally try and avoid them like the dear Sasquatch Man. Ok suppose The truth of the matter is that It is easier just to procrastinate and go “bad habit? me? BAD HABIT? phah” but sometimes we can’t avoid it, sometimes it returns and bites us on the hand (I’m being polite!).

Looking BACK, moving FORWARD in the Absence of Confidence can be one of the scariest things one can experience.  Taking things for granted becomes a thing of the past and our mantra morphs into “Harden the F Up” … no this is not The story of a Souf Efrikan journey… even though Souf Efrikan woman are tough… (so tough most people turn into “Sleepless in Souf Efrika” when they are around)!

To some it is a Message to America, to others It’s all about Zimbabwe but the truth in the Genius of Awareness is our chance to make things right in the world.  Much like Using Politics for Personal Development.

Everything has a “cost” and as we all know nothing in life is for free much like A Spiritual Riddle – We can quench your thirst completely only to have our breath taken away!

There is always ying and yang in life, the depth of the yang can often be put into balance by the ying and visa versa.  What comes around goes around, if you put out good you get good back…

Sorry for the lateness of this Salad, it couldn’t be helped.  I have stuck with the new format and admittedly have relied heavily on shared posts.  Apologies for not getting to all of yours just yet but from tomorrow I have the feeling things will start looking up… if all else fails I’ll slip mother a sleeping pill in her yummy tea I make and put her to bed real REAL early so that I too can get my share of vitamins.

* I blame the fact that there is a political element in this salad on the incredibleness of Hayden’s post, awesome piece on Zim by that Dude and AngryAfrican’s note to Americans… blame them not me *shrug*

** If there are any spellers let me know, my brain is in speed mode and does not compute in normal captonian (chilled) fashion

SanityFound Dictionary moves forward

imageOk so I have thought about it, read the emails saying that I should do it  and finally I think ok… I’ll do it but I’m going to do it different.  You know I am a rebel so there you go.

Many of you have left comments before and some have even emailed me saying that I should put together a “SanityFound Dictionary” and publish it.  The difference that I am talking about is… well its going to be ALL of us not just me.  I mean sure I come up with some words, I find the oddest ones as well and add them into my vocab, to me its fun and makes life more colourful.

So here is the proposal… I ask you for submissions…

If you have made up any words

If you use a word not regularly used by others but you think its funky and should be used

Want to try your hand at making up some words? Think some up and try your hand at it

Slang used in your country, suburb, province, state, culture that you think is funky and universal

With all of the above try give the following details

Origin – Did you invent it, did you hear it, misunderstand something someone said, read it, found it, etc

Pronunciation – say it out loud and type it as it sounds

Definition – What does it mean?

Use – Put it in a sentence as you would use it

Example:

Absofruitly

Origin: SanityFound

Pronunciation: ab-sooo-fruit-lee

Definition: Agreeing happily

Use: I most agree absofruitly

If you want to see what I have done so far then head over to my SanityFound’s Dictionary Page and if all else fails at least have a laugh…

If we get enough submissions then I’ll put it into an A, B, C book format which you can either download or I’ll put it up on Cafepress at cost.

So let the games begin, if anything, it should be fun…
