I have a dream

Untitled2 copy-650

I dream of different things, I don’t dream of where I want to go, I trust where I am going.  I trust that fate will be kind and if not it will be for lessons.  I have faith that I am on the right path and that if I falter I’ll be pushed back on to the one I’m meant to be on.

I dream that by living my life, by being the best I can be, I will be able to save at least one life from hunger, one life from homelessness, one life from sadness… that is what I dream for.

I dream…

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
Ill cross the stream – I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
Ill cross the stream – I have a dream
Ill cross the stream – I have a dream

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
Ill cross the stream – I have a dream
Ill cross the stream – I have a dream

“Staple It Together”

This is hands down one of my favourites by Jack Johnson, a song that holds such truth in our daily lives.  We all go through rough times, it’s how we look at them that determines how we get through them…

It’s really too bad
He became a prisoner of his own past
He stabbed the moment in the back with the round thumbtack
That held up the list of things he got to do
It’s really no good
He’s moving on before he understood
He shot the future in the foot with every step he took
From the places that he’s been because he forgot to look

He better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather (X3) (mmHmm)

Well I guess you could say
That he don’t even know where to begin
Because he looked both ways but he was so afraid
Digging deep into the ditch every chance he missed
And the mess he made
Because hate is such a strong word
And every brick he laid a mistake they say
That his walls are getting taller, and his world is getting smaller

He better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather (X3) (mmHmm)

It’s really too bad
He became a prisoner of his own past
He stabbed the moment in the back with the round thumbtack
That held up the list of things he got to do
It’s really no good
He’s moving on before he understood
He shot the future in the foot with every step he took
From the places that he’s been cause he forgot to look

He better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather (X3)

If the weather gets better we should get together
Spend a little time or we could do whatever
And if we get together we’d be twice as clever
So staple it together and call it bad weather… (mmHmm)

The times they are a changin’

This song is loaded with memories, good times and bad, along with so much symbology for the present… ah the times they are a changing

Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside
And it is ragin’.
It’ll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin’.
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin’.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’

I am you and you are me…

I first really listened to this song as it came on my shuffle while flying to England last year October.  I sat there and listened to it back to back the ENTIRE flight, a total of 11 hours, yes you heard right.  I had just packed up my life, said goodbye to the country of my birth, to people and to my life.  This song is as symbolic now as it was then, if not more so.

Right now I don’t have space on both my hands for everyone that is going through something, going through a major change or an emotional jigsaw, this song is for you… its for us.

I am you and you are me

I am you and you are me
Why’s that such a mystery?
If you want it you got to believe
Who are we? We’re who we are
Riding on this great big star
We’ve got to stand up if we’re gonna be free yeah

If you want it you got it
You just got to believe
Believe in yourself
‘Cause it’s all just a game
We just want to be loved

The Son of God is in our face
Offering us eternal grace
If you want it you’ve got to believe
‘Cause being free is a state of mind
We’ll one day leave this all behind
Just put your faith in God and one day you’ll see it

If you want it you got it
You just got to believe
Believe in yourself
‘Cause it’s all just a game
We just want to be loved

The future’s in our present hands
Let’s reach right in
Let’s understand
If you want it you’ve got to believe yeah

If you want it you got it
You just got to believe
Believe in yourself yeah
‘Cause it’s all just a game
We just want to be loved

Letter to Me ~ Brad Paisley

Kwoneshe2 showed me the music video to this song, I know next to nothing about country music so I am being educated.  My ears like what they hear!

This song is beautiful!

If I could write a letter to me
And send it back in time to myself at 17
First I’d prove it’s me by saying look under your bed
There’s a Skoal can and a Playboy no one else would know you hid
And then I’d say I know its tough
When you break up after seven months
And yeah I know you really liked her and it just don’t seem fair
All I can say is pain like that is fast and it’s rare

1st Chorus
And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it’s hard to see past Friday night
She wasn’t right for you
And still you feel like there’s a knife sticking out of your back
And you’re wondering if you’ll survive
You’ll make it through this and you’ll see
You’re still around to write this letter to me

At the stop sign at Tomlinson and Eighth
Always stop completely don’t just tap your brakes
And when you get a date with Bridgett make sure the tank is full
On second thought forget it that one turns out kinda cool
Each and every time you have a fight
Just assume you’re wrong and dad is right
And you should really thank Mrs. Brinkman
She spent so much extra time
It’s like she sees the diamond underneath
And she’s polishing you ‘til you shine

2nd Chorus
And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it’s hard to see past Friday night
Tonight’s the bonfire rally
But you’re staying home instead because if you fail Algebra
Mom and dad will kill you dead
Trust me you’ll squeak by and get a C
And you’re still around to write this letter to me

You’ve got so much up ahead
You’ll make new friends
You should see your kids and wife
And I’d end by saying have no fear
These are nowhere near the best years of your life

I guess I’ll see you in the mirror
When you’re a grown man
P.S. go hug Aunt Rita every chance you can

3rd Chorus
And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it’s hard to see past Friday night
I wish you’d study Spanish
I wish you’d take a typing class
I wish you wouldn’t worry, let it be
I’d say have a little faith and you’ll see

If I could write a letter to me
To me
