Weekly Fruit Salad ~ [place number here]

Found a new wrinkle today so decided to just plain avoid numbers all together. I mean when I look in the mirror it’s still me, the 18 year old staring back at me… you know?

Phew what a week it has been, admittedly the “One Giant Step” moment, yeah I don’t even need to tell you which one that was!  Obama, Obama, Obama, a Day of Tribulation and also of shame, some weren’t so happy, some cried, some were ecstatic, some made shout outs to An American Hero either way the US elections were felt worldwide.  The New Face of the Presidency, may you always be courageous, stand up right and be strongPandemic Faith, Hope and Love, lets Make this better for all!

The thing that touched me the most about it all? Kids…

Color Them Blonde, do what you have to do but You really can’t blame anyone else for the state of your life nor can you avoid your own life by living vicariously through your child.  Sad as it is we all need to find our own Way Back and build up The Courage to Leap with Puppy Size love.  Block and tackle, gain your individuality back, Accept things as they are and that we all have moments of Stupid, life is like that, there will always be “our” Time.

Stress Management is the really hot topic of the week with “How to Overcome A Panic Attack” and “Tips for dealing with Anxiety, breathing through it…“.  Seems the world over is feeling the effects of the overly slight financial crisis, life and living… its touching us all but at the same time we are all standing up, standing together and smiling through it.  Why is it that we are always worried about “how you look to the world”?

When we can’t smile we find someone who we know will help us to.  I know for me personally watching a Baby Laugh at Wii and the The Worst Best Man – Ever! videos just about had me with 10 broken ribs from laughing so hard.  Then there are the the little things that we hold dear like Snow days and The Fallacy of Greener Grass

The Simplest of terms… life is what you make of it, from Pictorial Highlights Of Fall to the Inspiration found in The Stick and The Cardboard Box that found their way to the Toy Hall of Fame.  Its everywhere if you are willing to look.  Perhaps you are Just Small Town or perhaps its another dreaded bout of Fibromyalgia, either way its up to you.

Space.. the final frontier? Or is it truly our own souls we have yet to conquer? A pondering question for the week for sure or as the new hip way of saying it is “fo sho”.  Flying Together – Our Conversations in October, ask no questions, hear no lies… its really been a blast from the recent past.  The worst question for me this week though was “Blonde blue-eyed baby for sale?“, my first thoughts were “um hello, come again, they did WHAT?” Enough said, I was shocked and it kind of makes me want to revisit School—1957 fo sho! Ok sorry I just had to use my new word, forgive me!

Boundless Love people, if you don’t know it yet, its all the rage!

The holidays are coming so its best to start prepping up and getting all set – can anyone tell me why, oh why, this year has flown as fast as it has? Or perhaps for some, such as me, why it has taken so dang long???

Now I have something really REALLY big BIG to announce… are you sitting? Yip Lindsey has finished her book which is now for sale YIPEEEEE (sorry I have been awaiting its arrival while sitting on my hands seriously!)  Just click on the image and head on through… Congrats Lindsey, the blog world is proud, PROUD beyond words!

Thanks for an incredible week everyone, it has been AWESOME!!!

Mandela: Obama is inspiring

I decided to post a copy of the news report for everyone to read because it is in effect what I believe to be true. I know I said no politics, I broke that rule in part yesterday… but come on … this is BIG

Go have a read at AngryAfrican’s Is Obama the American Mandela? … revisited he was more right than he’ll ever know!

Mandela: Obama is inspiring

Johannesburg – Anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela congratulated US president elect Barack Obama on his victory on Wednesday, saying he was an inspiration to people all over the world.

“Your victory has demonstrated that no person anywhere in the world should not dare to dream of wanting to change the world for a better place,” Mandela said in a letter to Obama.

“We note and applaud your commitment to supporting the cause of peace and security around the world. We trust that you will also make it the mission of your presidency to combat the scourge of poverty and disease everywhere.

“We wish you strength and fortitude in the challenging days and years that lie ahead. We are sure you will ultimately achieve your dream making the United States of America a full partner in a community of nations committed to peace and prosperity for all,” said Mandela.

Historic elections

Obama became the world power’s first black president as his Republican rival John McCain conceded defeat in historic elections on Wednesday morning.

South African leaders congratulated him, expressing hope that his election would place Africa’s problems higher on the global agenda.

“Your election to this high office of the American people carries with it hope for millions of your country men and women as much as it is for millions of people of particularly the African descent both in the continent of Africa as well as those in the diaspora,” President Kgalema Motlanthe said in a statement.

“We express the hope that poverty and under-development in Africa which remains a challenge for humanity will indeed continue to receive a greater attention of the focus of the new administration,” added Motlanthe.

The ruling African National Congress said it expected South Africa to maintain its strong relationship of “mutual respect and co-operation” with the United States.

“The ANC is confident that the Obama administration will work to strengthen ties between the United States and Africa, building on development initiatives already in place, forging a genuine partnership to tackle the challenges facing the continent,” said ANC spokesperson Jessie Duarte.

Politics of race ‘out’

Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille said Obama’s election conveyed “a powerful message that the politics of race is on the way out”.

“It demonstrates that through hard work and access to opportunity, anyone can change the world,” said Zille.

“Hopefully, here in South Africa, we will learn from Obama’s success, and take the politics of the open, opportunity society to heart.”

SA National Convention Movement leader Terror Lekota said Obama’s victory signified “the strength of the will of the people who are hungry for change”.

“It demonstrates that in a democracy, people have the power to change the course of their lives, the course of history.

The Democrats Abroad South Africa said there were 20 000 registered US citizens in South Africa and that most of them voted.

Here is how the world partied…  World parties as Obama wins

[place your politicians name here]

“Its always their fault isn’t it, never ours, no no no, don’t be crazy, how one earth can it be our fault? Come now, don’t be ridiculous, us? NEVER will it be our fault, hell no, get a life, wake up, smell some coffee. It’s not our fault it’s theirs!!!”

“WAIT!”

“What do you mean it is my fault? How dare you even begin to imply that it could be our fault, are you blind? Do you not see what they do? What they are doing to us, our country, our world?”

110139752_fafb91ede3

“What do you do?”

Silence

“I am serious, What do you do???”

Can you answer that question, pause for a moment and stop pointing those fingers.

Answer the simple question…

What do you do?

It is not such a hard question to ask, perhaps it is a harder one to answer.

I’m not talking about that big monetary donation you made a big fanfare about giving (Hope that tax break was a great one for your bank account).

No, what I am asking is… What have you done to make this place, this country, this world a better place to live in.  Don’t throw that excuse of “I am only one person” and don’t even being to think of trying the “I have nothing to give” excuse.

Harsh?

We often go through life expecting our governments to do the necessary “dirty” work.  We expect others to fix our homeless problems, our unemployment, our street kids, the pollution, and the state of our world.

Ever put all those spare blankets you have in the cupboard that you never use in the back of the car, the trunk of the car (boot in SA)? I mean what do you do with those extra blankets that lie in your cupboard being eaten by bugs?

187-02-street-children-philippines

Right this minute there are millions upon millions of people, kids, sleeping on the streets. They sleep on pavements, on gravel.  They sleep with spiders crawling up their ripped pants, through their holey shoes.  They sleep with no goodnight kiss. They sleep with no warmth of a cozy blanket or a warm meal in their stomachs.

What do you do?

Do you ever find that you have all this food in the back of your cupboard, food that just sits there getting old and stale, food that is probably past its use by date.  Food that could be dropped off at a shelter on the way to work.  Food that could be given to the kid at your car window at the stop street.

Untitled-1

Why is it that people choose to rather shout at these kids? these people? Why is that people choose to curse them and the government for the problem? The irritation of having them beg, having them ask for something that we take for granted each and every day.

[place your politicians name here]

We go on and on about this politician and that politician, this one will do that, that one will do this.  We get into these big arguments about it.  We curse one another and at times it can turn into a full blooded rage.  Newspapers go on and on about it. It gets heated.

Imagine if we all put the same amount of energy into solving the worlds problems.

You, Me, Us.

Can you imagine what we could accomplish?

Can you IMAGINE?

There are ways you can help, things you can do, reach out and touch someone’s life, anyone’s life.  If you don’t or can’t get involved then help someone else help someone.

Stop blaming

Start doing

Weekly Fruit Salad – Αριθμός δεκατεσσαρων

Look Greek to you? Yip its Number fourteen in Greek no less.  Now at least you know where the saying comes from! Yip, they weren’t lying… Phew what a week, heaven, hell, News and then some politics in between.  Grab some Intravenous Coffee, watch the Tortoise on Skateboard and enjoy!

imageA few Grapes

Everyone has gone nutso Politicking away about this guy called McCain who, if you ask me, looks a bit too much like Steve Martin for my liking. He’s apparently got this side kick called Palin the Distractor who by all accounts defines the Perfect PR.  I’ve heard the cries “Vote Early, Vote Often” and “Let Them Eat Cake…” but what really matters? Is it about The Family is a Higher Calling or How Politics Reveals Our Psyche“? Its been “Sarah Palin..okay, lets go!” followed by “A letter to Sarah” then Republican Conventions with Chickensh*t Republicans! (or is it Chickensh*t Democrats/Liberals?)  You want More on Palin? Are you sure? Really? Ok then Let’s Talk About Palin.

Poli-tic-in’ Is Such a Biyatch and it reduces people to pettiness far beyond anything I can describe in decent words.  I actually loved reading all the above mentioned posts, all of them are really well written.  It all starts out adult like then you get people coming in off the set of Jerry Springer and adding their two cents, or in some cases, their toilet papers worth.  Where’s the Love people!  I am going to need Therapy now me thinks, you want a straight jacket as well?

Here is what I think… If the canthankerous Jerry Springer bunch spent half the time they spend commenting visharsely on fighting against world poverty, child abuse, aid reaching the victims in Haiti after Hannah hit and humanitarian rights abuses… what would the world look like? Anticipation Explosion people… the JS’s need to go read How To Be Miserable!

image An Apple (you know what they say about an apple a day…)

All of this makes me appreciate finding the Ubuntu spirit in others more incredibly soulvaluable.  A few more posts were written this week:  Hayden with her incredible I Am Because You Are; AngryAfrican with his beautiful Ubuntu (or It’s like breathing); followed by Amber’s amazing Ubuntu – I am because you are… and then a beautiful post on The spirit and spiritual side of Ubuntu. Nope none of this “You’re the one with the problem” business.

A few bananas

Women, the Bible and My little thoughts with an Interview With Married humans… it all leads me to question What is in a name? A rose by any other…?  Am I wrong in thinking that hurricanes go by female names? Correct me if I am wrong but is Gustav not a male name?  Perhaps the real question is How do you survive Gustav??? Hmm its definitely a Thought… it’s not my fault that I have an ex who was much like his namesake! So Shoe Me!!!

A lot of pips

Just between you and me, I swear this week has been filled with really strange questions.

First up “When is it time to stop driving??“  When you knock over the traffic officer testing you?

Then came “Where is home?I have decided to extend my stay on Pluto due to the fact that Mars was full.  Good news is that said they’ll have an opening for me soon… phew!

Finally What do you do with friends? Well when they misbehave I try to be understanding, when they steal my cookies however, well, then it is a totally different matter entirely.

Logic? Phah! It’s for the birds instead I just Vote for a cure!

Peaches are hairy

Children – the really young ones probably haven’t a clue as to how special the 80s? (or at least the videos?) are.  Well I am going to “throw my toys” “just now” because I so prefer the 90′s… does that show my age? Careful how you answer that one!!!

I Didn’t Realize living could be a Lonely job but with people like Joy (cookie stealer), Leann (soon to steal cookies just know it), a Washington Blogger and Famous Pig (another cookie stealer), Lindsey (cookie baker and we know… she steals to) and erm Sanity Found (innocent) life can never have a dull moment! (especially when there are cookies involved!)

imageSo called healthy Vitamins (wine has more)

A vow observed is To do what you’ve got to do, strangely though it seems that Something is in the Way.  It will always be so until we realise in the end that Annie doesn’t have all the answers.

Life… We rise, we Fall only to build Walls.  There are no sure Instructions for Life except What a girl should know and Getting the most from your doctor visit (*shivers*).  New Direction, New Career we are always Changing expectations.  One moment its a Baby Paper Bag and next moment its a big Paper Bag, shock horror I know but as I said… Changing expectations, it’s never a bad thing but one thing for sure it’s no stroll on the Promenade au Present et au Passe.  Why is it that we fear change? Is it such a Stranger to us?

Stop Killin’ Time and Throw the Dice on Life, take A New Breath and embrace the new Phase in your life, Celebrate Your Friends and most of all Celebrate your Self!!  We’re all under The same sun, a fingernail moon, and changing seasons, time to say  Goodbye to being the Passerby and Live the dreamBeginning and End, its your choice.

The darker side and young Padawan, the truth is out there!

PS I know that I said that the salad was postponed, I made the executive decision of unpostponing it. Thanks for all your thoughts and hugs MWAH

Weekly Fruit Salad – Número Dez

imageNúmero Dez? Number 10 in Portuguese but I have strangely gone off numbers so I am now using foreign languages, softens them up a bit.  No, I do not have a condition, perhaps, but no. I am trying to Age With Grace and then some!

I am no small town girl but don’t you think it’s odd how big events bring out the strangeness in people.  I mean look at the guy on the right isn’t he just Hilarious… *ahem* right ok I just sooo have to get me a pair of those glasses!!! Ok, I’ll admit its the hair that I want, come on, you can’t blame me surely!  I sure hope the guy doesn’t have Thick Ankles, wait, is it only the females? I am honestly surprised that they let Team Darfur through the borders, this isn’t a political piece so I will now keep mute on the subject.

Ok you tell me now, take a look at the photo up there AFTER reading “Thick Ankles” and let me know if you agree with what I think he is really saying… This is what I think is going on: “OH MY GOSH what do you mean … I AM A WOMAN????” or perhaps that is a woman up there going “I do NOT have THICK ANKLES you BLEEEEEEEP!!!!” then clobbers the police officer with a walking stick. What do you think’s going on up there?

The one thing that can be said about the Olympics though is the fact that it has given people the confidence to Voice the issues currently found in the world. All said and done I just wish we could finally get some decent coverage of The Olympics for Politicians.  Apparently according to the help line it is not them it is me, I don’t speak parcal-tongue see! While on that topic, perhaps there should be a new talent show called Liar Liar Pants on Fire to premiere at the same time as O4P? Ah Cheating spouses and louses are pretty much the Dark Knight’s in the White House I guess.

Am I Stereotyping when I made that statement? The mere word Stereotypes, gets on my nerves, not without its Reasons And Emotions though.  Muslims & Christians, people are always Second guessing each other and it makes me beyond sad.  I am because you are, As One, equal, we can solve so many of the world problems.  What’s a miracle? the fact that perhaps I think it is possible? No, there are miracles everywhere we just choose not to see them.  Perhaps we all need to take a little walk Inside the mind of Juliette Binoche.

When Life Hands You Lemons with a Fear of a Falafel Planet what would you choose… Would you Vote John Obama! Down with Barack McCain or do you go around calling them The dinosaur and the black dude? With US politics I don’t know, I am one of the Lost Ones there but over all I’ll make some fresh lemonade *yum*

Ok perhaps I have gone all political, am quite worried perhaps I should just write A Letter from the Queen to the Americans and do a bit of soul SearchingTalking people into things, creating different Illusions with their spinning Master of Meanings all get a bit much for me sometimes… can you tell that I’ve read too much news?

Perhaps we should all rather just start asking those Awkward Questions, start coming up with ways to solve the world’s starvation problems and how to get simple things to the real people.  Not the fluff that beefs up political egos. We, you and I, have it within us to do great things, we have more power than we realise.  Anyways yes, He’s Fierce, He’s Flamboyant, He’s Attack Chihuahua, oops sorry I mean he is the presidentoss who is in real life a slight Ostrich if you ask me. Enough politics? Hah!

WAIT!!!!! seriously wait… Whatcha lookin for? seriously now, the moon? Mental treats? Another dose of Photoshop? a bit of this and a bit of that? Have any of you gone and checked out the search terms used to find your space? Go have a look, I just found one “straightjacket sex” and I am quite perturbed.  Now finally people will believe my innocence! Sin matters but I just don’t know, that to me sounds like a biggie.

This week has been a really good week in the blogo world with many incredible posts.  Please note that this “good” sentiment does not include or come close to including the biggest zit you have ever seen that perched on the end of my nose this morning.  No, there are no and will be no photos of this beautilishous bump.  I now find myself staring at it in the mirror shouting “BE HEALED! BE HEALED!” … so far it has not worked so I just say F@#*%! hibernation it is.

Phew, Don’t We All just love listening to the Blues while the Winds of August play with our hair making knots chewing gum would be proud of… Guess it wouldn’t make the The African Future Times or be placed on Billboard’s but have you heard of the Secret Lives of Husbands? Sometimes men think we women are gifted in reading minds, can you believe it! What is my “hidden gift”? “Yes darling I can read your mind and I know exactly what you want” Men that think us woman are mind readers sheesh!

Look I will admit I Am Not Fond of Buses but Parents who Teach their kids to mentor are probably tops in my books.  Education and passing on the spirit of knowledge are probably one of the most important lessons that we all have in our power to give to the younger generations. Two questions, do you teach your child to Just Say “Thank You” and then How young is too young for sex? Hey it’s a good question and I have a gift for shocking people, I think I’m going to be one of those scary parents, yip nothing calm about me!

Well Alrighty Then we’ve had letters to America from the Queen time to write some Letters to God, call it a life saving mission for my possible future kids. Honestly now, can you imagine me having sample SanityFounds??? What is worse is the idea of me having to bake a cake, I always fail at them, plonk down they sink right in the middle.  Mind you that is always perfect for the caramel… alas I digress…  Ironically just after thinking about this very thing a headline flashed across my screen “Do not have children” There ya go, it is just me saving the nation.

Families are strange things, Sister’s a joy, brothers a pain but the one we choose is the one to roll with, personally anyway.  I’m just so glad that there are always those bribe “shots” that get placed into the albums (or rather not) that can be pulled out and dusted off at all the right moments.  Sound like Tough Love? maybe it is the kindest love of all, perhaps it isn’t, either way for some it is just about Love or Money not much of the “and”. At the end of the day I believe it should be Sugar Daddy And His Girls, laughter, smiles and real family vibe.

On average each week I link in about 70 blog posts from about 30 to 40 different blogs, it may seem like I am nuts but I am not, I have google reader see.  There are a few of you that do as well, you read a post, like it, click share and it goes into the salad.  Thank you for all your help, I think it’s impossible to read every blog considering that there are millions. Yes, I know Heroes Are Everywhere but I am still working on my superhuman powers.  Phew the Beer Pressure!

Recommended posts always help.  On average though my reader has 90 RSS feeds, now that is scary.  Please bear in mind I am an insomniac before passing judgement on my sanity levels (low).  If you don’t use Google Reader and want to know how it all works let me know, don’t mind.  If you do use it and want to start sharing drop me a mail and we’ll link.

I am now going to start dreaming of my Dream Home or better yet Heavenly Shoes with the a few chuckle’s here and there, yes I Could definitely Get Used to This… ah it’s all a part of Life’s secrets… tips to living a good life..

I’m sorry, so sorry, this post is “off” schedule, I have been a bit snowed under with things.  I am grateful that mad Eric is doing GREAT and thanks to all of you Always Giving Never Asking Back, the unconditional sharing and caring that you all give/do for each other warms my heart each day.  Sounds soppy, perhaps it is soppy, lets just say it’s refreshing to see.  Perhaps we will all meet up in the middle of the earth as TDYK suggested (no biltong there though)

Why do you blog? or perhaps Why do you read blogs? This week something incredible happened, some arb person happened upon a blog and went on to create a facebook group.  That group is now in the thousands, one person writing a simple blog post, one person finding it, reading it, changing lives.  Go check it out, hats off to AngryAfrican!

Each day you write something, each day you read something, you are changing lives.  No pressure, just know that even if it is just a simple vent someone out there feels it, recognises it and it helps. Laughs, pain, happiness, thoughts, philosophy, you name it… you’re all part of the Daisy chain of inspiration.  Keep going, never stop!

Now I am going to write a letter to myself entitled “Dear Me In 1973” and it will go on to say “you will meet strange people, have a massive huge geyenormARSE zit on your nose and thick ankles will be bad bad bad NEWS!”  Oh wait perhaps it is just 1983 All Over Again!

Cheers guys, girls, dogs, cats, samples – a great week had by all! and if not a great one … fantastic faking till you make it!
