A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that, in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.
‘House’ for instance, is feminine: ‘la casa.’
‘Pencil,’ however, is masculine: ‘el lapiz.’
So, a student asked, ‘What gender is ‘computer’?’
Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether ‘computer’ should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.
The men’s group decided that ‘computer’ should definitely be of the feminine gender (‘la Computadora’), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for Possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
(THIS GETS BETTER!)
The women’s group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine (‘el computador’), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on.
2. They have a lot of data but still can’t think for themselves.
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
I do not trust media reports at the best of time, the amount of true reality in them is always warped I feel to agenda’s. Zimbabwe is in chaos, retaliation killings are going wild, no one who voted for the opposing party MDC is on the hit list. So the ship containing weapons destined for Zim is now docked in Angola, why is this ship still allowed to sail?
My views on this are obviously childish in my hope that this world would do something about situations like this. The international “laws” obviously govern situations like this, they obviously do not take these matters seriously or question the company who owns these ships, brings to mind the movie Lord of War (ironically partly filmed in SA). Guess there is consolation in the fact that if it had tried to re-enter our waters it would be arrested kudo’s to a country that see’s no crisis in Zim…
Good news is that I will not be going to Zim anymore for my cousins wedding, sad at the same time that they can not get married in their home country in fear for theirs and their visitor’s lives. Her family is still out there on their farm, I pray that they manage to leave soon. Those fleeing Zim do so without any property, they are barred from leaving with anything other than their car and clothes, what is a Zim dollar worth anyways?
This has been Africa for years, one of the most beautiful continents in the world with beautiful spirits being destroyed by egotistical egomaniacs that rule with guns and death, I pray that my destiny is not here.
One World, One Soul is taking shape and expanding, thank you all for your support, our support. I have started a blog called OneWorldOneSoul with the idea of taking this concept a step further. The reason for doing this is twofold.
I feel that One World, One Soul is all of ours, it is our project not just mine, it is to show each other that we stand together, to show just how many of us are out there that care and that want to make a difference in the world. Once all is set up on the “other side” I will transfer the One World, One Soul wall of faces there as well.
Secondly the concept has grown, expanded will be forever evolving. There are so many of us that in reality want to help and make a difference but often don’t know who or how. There are so many fraudsters out there taking the gifts we give and not transferring them on to the right person at the other end. The concept is that we find people who really need our help in each country of the world and make the information available to everyone, who knows there could be a shelter just around your corner crying out for blankets, or an orphanage your kid’s old toys could go to or a military widow that is in dire need of support…
This blog of ours however will not be the end goal, the plan is to take it to the big wide world of an official website where people in need can connect with those who want to give. Yes I can all hear you shaking your heads at this, but in this day and age information spreads, word of mouth flies faster than an old concord or fighter jet.
That said we are looking for people who are interested in joining the project, people who are willing and wanting to help us find the people in need and let us know who they are. We are also looking for people to write about issues such as AIDS/disease, poverty, military widows, refugees, adoption, elderly, etc (you get the idea) to highlight the true facts not the media’s ploy at reality.
If you are interested in writing for One World, One Soul, wish to do research or if you prefer to just get added onto the wall let us know and we’ll be in contact, .
What is One World, One Soul? It is a place where people who need and people who want to help out but don’t know how meet…
One World, One Soul, One Colour…
If you are new to this you One World, One Soul you can read the previous posts:
I had a dream 2 nights ago, I had a dream of one world with one soul with billions of hearts pumping together as one, one vision, one nation all with one goal, a better world. My experience with the elderly gentleman the other day, he was there on my path for a reason and now amberfireinus’ post God doesn’t make ugly ducklings just makes it solid in my mind.
Chatting to a friend yesterday, he spoke with such sadness for the state of the world and our nation. So often we can feel as though we are the only ones that dream of a world without hunger, without racism, without sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, without war, street sleeping, orphans, the list can go on forever. Yesterday was a heavy day, tears forever in my eyes, that elderly gentleman broke my heart into a million different pieces all scattered around my soul.
I’ve been lying in bed for what felt like hours since then, feels as though I haven’t slept in days. It bothered me that so many people praised me when I asked not to be, it bothered me that perhaps people didn’t see the true reason for me posting that story. Then I thought that perhaps by my action of posting what happened the other day it gave others hope that there was indeed more people with compassion that walked the earth, perhaps they saw that through all of us there is hope, then I passed out…
The dream, one world, one soul, white light, serenity and a smile… I so badly want to shout from the rooftops telling everyone of us that there is hope in this world, that this world is not such a bad place with all of us in it, you and me, we can do this, each and everyone of us can make a difference, we’re not alone, the world is full of people who care, who want to make a difference, who want to help the world.
Perhaps it is but a dream, but I’m going to hold it close no matter what anyone says. I get a lot of “stick” for wanting to make this world a better place, people say its impossible, that my dreams are pointless. I know I need to keep the dream alive but I do cry for those who have no hope, it saddens me beyond words and so I have run out for now, perhaps just a little bit of sleep will come my way…
I hear a baby crying,
A sad sound, a lonely sound.
I want to take her in my arms,
And then I dry away all her tears.
I see a boy who’s frightened,
A young boy with old eyes,
I long to say you’re welcome here,
You can be happy now that you’re warm.
We’re all a part of one world,
We all can share the same dream…
And if you just reach out to me,
Then you will find deep down inside….
I’m just like you,
Loud voices raised in anger,
Speak harsh words, such cruel words,
Why do they speak so selfishly?
When we have got so much we can share.
So let your hearts be open,
And reach out with all your love,
There are no strangers now,
They are our brothers now,
And we are one.
We’re all apart of one world,
We all can share the same dream,
And if you just reach out to me,
Then you will find, deep down inside,
I’m just like you….
We’re all apart of one world,
We all can share the same dream,
And if you just reach out to me,
Then you will find, deep down inside…
