Life Uncommon

remoteImage-25This morning I read Liar (Part One ) by Sweetiegirlz (Thanks Pat) and this song started  playing in my head, over and over again, it played.  The lyrics are that which I wish I could sing to all children who find themselves in scary times, times of abuse, poverty, sadness and horror. Instead I sing it to the world in hope that it hears me, hears the message of hope, of hanging on and fighting for another day.

Perhaps I am a bit nostalgic, perhaps I am now just able to sit back and look at the big full picture and see all the puzzle pieces come together like a huge patch work quilt.

Sometimes the little girl within cries, she cries for a childhood she never got to have, for the love she never had and for the injustice of it all.

Sometimes that little girl reaches out and plays with other kids as if she were them, their age, giggling, laughing and doing duck walks.

Sometimes she cries for the other little kids she can’t help or save from the pain.

See, I know I can’t save anyone and most definitely I won’t be able to save all the children in this world nor will I be able to ever prevent the horrors they go through… but… perhaps we can show them that it is possible to survive, that it is possible to be all that you want to be, to break free and show them the strength that lies within them.

I wish I was a superhero not for the fame but rather just so that I would be able to zoom all of these kids to a better safer place… hmm and no there would be no underwear on top!

So to all those who have experienced hard times, trauma, harsh pasts, abuse of any kind… tell your stories, share your experiences and set your words free for they will show others that no matter what it’s possible to live, to survive and to rebuild themselves.

If you don’t want to do it on your current blog create a separate one, do what ever you need to do just get it off your chest and into the sphere… each word saves a life, that is fact and I am testament to it.

don’t worry mother, it’ll be alright
and don’t worry sister, say your prayers and sleep tight
it’ll be fine lover of mine
it’ll be just fine

lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
no longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from
fill your lives with love and bravery
and you shall lead a life uncommon

I’ve heard your anguish,
I’ve heard your hearts cry out
we are tired, we are weary, but we aren’t worn out
set down your chains, until only faith remains
set down your chains

and lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
no longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from
fill your lives with love and bravery
and we shall lead a life uncommon

there are plenty of people who pray for peace
but if praying were enough it would have come to be
let your words enslave no one and the heavens will hush themselves
to hear our voices ring out clear
with sounds of freedom
sounds of freedom

come on you unbelievers, move out of the way
there is a new army coming and we are armed with faith
to live, we must give
to live

and lend our voices only to sounds of freedom
no longer lend our strength to that which we wish to be free from
fill your lives with love and bravery
and we shall lead…

lend our voices only to sounds of freedom
no longer lend our strength to that which we wish to be free from
fill your lives with love and bravery

Weekly Fruit Salad ~ [place number here]

Found a new wrinkle today so decided to just plain avoid numbers all together. I mean when I look in the mirror it’s still me, the 18 year old staring back at me… you know?

Phew what a week it has been, admittedly the “One Giant Step” moment, yeah I don’t even need to tell you which one that was!  Obama, Obama, Obama, a Day of Tribulation and also of shame, some weren’t so happy, some cried, some were ecstatic, some made shout outs to An American Hero either way the US elections were felt worldwide.  The New Face of the Presidency, may you always be courageous, stand up right and be strongPandemic Faith, Hope and Love, lets Make this better for all!

The thing that touched me the most about it all? Kids…

Color Them Blonde, do what you have to do but You really can’t blame anyone else for the state of your life nor can you avoid your own life by living vicariously through your child.  Sad as it is we all need to find our own Way Back and build up The Courage to Leap with Puppy Size love.  Block and tackle, gain your individuality back, Accept things as they are and that we all have moments of Stupid, life is like that, there will always be “our” Time.

Stress Management is the really hot topic of the week with “How to Overcome A Panic Attack” and “Tips for dealing with Anxiety, breathing through it…“.  Seems the world over is feeling the effects of the overly slight financial crisis, life and living… its touching us all but at the same time we are all standing up, standing together and smiling through it.  Why is it that we are always worried about “how you look to the world”?

When we can’t smile we find someone who we know will help us to.  I know for me personally watching a Baby Laugh at Wii and the The Worst Best Man – Ever! videos just about had me with 10 broken ribs from laughing so hard.  Then there are the the little things that we hold dear like Snow days and The Fallacy of Greener Grass

The Simplest of terms… life is what you make of it, from Pictorial Highlights Of Fall to the Inspiration found in The Stick and The Cardboard Box that found their way to the Toy Hall of Fame.  Its everywhere if you are willing to look.  Perhaps you are Just Small Town or perhaps its another dreaded bout of Fibromyalgia, either way its up to you.

Space.. the final frontier? Or is it truly our own souls we have yet to conquer? A pondering question for the week for sure or as the new hip way of saying it is “fo sho”.  Flying Together – Our Conversations in October, ask no questions, hear no lies… its really been a blast from the recent past.  The worst question for me this week though was “Blonde blue-eyed baby for sale?“, my first thoughts were “um hello, come again, they did WHAT?” Enough said, I was shocked and it kind of makes me want to revisit School—1957 fo sho! Ok sorry I just had to use my new word, forgive me!

Boundless Love people, if you don’t know it yet, its all the rage!

The holidays are coming so its best to start prepping up and getting all set – can anyone tell me why, oh why, this year has flown as fast as it has? Or perhaps for some, such as me, why it has taken so dang long???

Now I have something really REALLY big BIG to announce… are you sitting? Yip Lindsey has finished her book which is now for sale YIPEEEEE (sorry I have been awaiting its arrival while sitting on my hands seriously!)  Just click on the image and head on through… Congrats Lindsey, the blog world is proud, PROUD beyond words!

Thanks for an incredible week everyone, it has been AWESOME!!!

Novel in a month competition with Redroom

I don’t know if any of you are members of Redroom, if you are then you have probably seen their announcement for the Novel Writing Month competition.  It’s a great opportunity either to kick your butt into action and start on that novel or to try your hand at it.

Shake off the fingers and get them working… what’s to lose?

Whether you’re a successful author about to miss your next book deadline, an aspiring author who’s been “meaning” to write a novel for years, or a non-writer who wants to do something crazy, have I got the month for you: November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)!I’m encouraging all of my friends and colleagues to join me and write a novel between November 1st and November 30th.

Can I Really Write a Novel in 30 Days?
Yes. Really. That’s all it takes—Stephen King does it. And, before I founded Red Room, I was a writing coach (named San Francisco magazine’s “Best Writing Coach” in 2005), when I realized that most people type about 1,000 words an hour and can write a first draft of a short novel of 50,000 words in about fifty hours.

But How Do I Win?
All it takes to “win” NaNoWriMo is for you to write a novel. Another way to win: We’ve added our own contest. Red Room will randomly select one NaNoWriMo winner of a one-hour coaching call with me after I personally review his or her manuscript for a few hours. I used to charge $2,000 for this, but it’s actually “priceless” since I don’t coach writers anymore. Now I only do it for good causes, like getting you to do some writing in November.

I Love Winning! How Do I Enter?
It’s easy to participate—just write a novel in November and blog about it on redroom.com. I look forward to finding out who’s joining me! Respond to this email if you have any questions.

Red Room Author Dr. Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Stop the agony (if you have it), or just do it because you don’t believe it’s possible (it is). I look forward to reading my new novel, and yours!

—Ivory Madison, redroom.com founder and CEO
P.S. Some NaNoWriMo participants have published their NaNoWriMo novels and become #1 New York Times bestselling authors. Maybe we’re next?

Weekly Fruit Salad ~ Number 20

imageYeah yeah I know it’s in English but thought it kind of special what with it  being a whole 20 salads consumed and no one has food poisoning yet! Phew! It’s been quite a week so grizzly bear with me here and hopefully it will be as exciting as the Dallas Gay Pride Parade.  Hats off to Nathalie with an H, have you seen this woman’s photos? Ah you have not lived till you have sampled the eye candy she has on her blog!

Definitions Making A Difference is sometimes a bit like trying to define the Cookie Monster Slayer, it changes as does the weather, each person is different, each need evolves… how we can make a difference in reality depends on the web of life we find ourselves in.  Complex simplicity if you will is the nature of the day, Deal or No Deal it’s ultimately how you choose.

Just because sometimes Hardened battle soldiers find it tough to be civilians it doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve Comfort, encouragement and many hugs.  No I am not talking about the Kumbaya warning lamp but rather why it doesn’t go off on “UBUNTU”.  Suppose some might be getting sick of that word but its around for good, it’s centuries old and flows through our veins.  Ubuntu – nobody is ever outside, it’s not a cult or some wayward religion, it just is, a way of life, a way of person.  I am nothing without you.

Good, Bad – Who Knows… either way we all know a Bum In The Alley.  Perhaps its about False economies – working smarter not harder, perhaps its all about Staying Present in the moment or just Sharing what you have with others.  It’s been a rough time for so many, financial crisis, politics coming out of the toilet water and little Wanted and Worth $3.50 adverts.

Don’t Shy away from The good old days because the Chickens always Come Home To Roost in the end.  Go revisit that Souf Efrikan foto elbum or better yet remember Something about the Wedding, any wedding (all my experiences have been um strange… normally me hiding from the bouquet throwing ceremony!)

For us all it must be Love First

Breathe deeply and smile to a New Day
